Director of Procurement

Nimbus has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional Director of Procurement to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a cross-functional partner, developing and managing the overall strategic sourcing and vendor management processes across the organization. This is a newly created and critical role to support vendor analysis and selection, vendor governance and compliance, as well as benchmarking and cost forecasting. You will report to our Senior Director of Finance.

In this role, you will:

  • Work as cross-functional partner, developing sourcing and vendor management practices to provide best possible sourcing outcomes and proactively manage supplier relationships
  • Manage vendor selection and onboarding through the execution of bidding processes, due diligence, proposal review, and contract and pricing negotiation
  • Partner with program teams and project leads to assist in vendor management through the monitoring of contract compliance, maintaining of project budgets and change orders, and identifying cost variances or duplicated costs
  • Assist with vendor governance practices including: facilitating governance meetings with CROs and key vendors, reviewing metrics and KPIs to ensure oversight of study/project progress, and participating in quality review of vendor performance
  • Assist with financial forecasting by developing cost estimates using internal and external benchmarking data
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, market forces, and other risks impacting the company’s critical outsourced activities and assist with risk mitigation
  • Conduct internal spend and business needs assessments to align level of sourcing efforts to the critical areas within the company
  • Partner with Quality function to assist with templates and SOPs regarding vendor selection, vendor onboarding, and vendor management procedures

These Qualifications Will Help This Role Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific or business discipline. Advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in vendor and contract management within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Significant experience performing financial budgeting within outsourced R&D activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills required with demonstrated success in leading projects and interacting with cross functional teams
  • Ability to navigate, problem-solve, execute, and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving environment
